Best Ways to Save on Your Next Disney Vacation

While most of us wish we could spend all our time at Disney, our budgets often determine how often we get to go. A Disney Vacation can be very pricey and bringing a family can come with a hefty price tag. So, here are some great ways to save some cash and still have a dream Disney vacation.

Buy Disney gift cards from Target

A great way to save money on a Disney vacation is pre buying Disney gift cards from Target using Target’s Red Card. This will save you 5% on the gift cards you buy. You do not have to have the Target credit card; the Target Red Card can be a debit card that links to your checking account. You can use these gift cards on all things Disney, from hotels to merchandise to tickets! The average Disney vacation for a family of four staying on property with tickets for 4 nights is right around $4,000. Saving 5% of that is a huge amount of $200!

Staying at a Value Resort

While most of us would love to stay at the Deluxe resorts, it also can eat up a massive portion of your budget. Disney’s All-Star, Pop Century, and Art of Animation Resorts are all great options to stay at and their price tags won’t be too expensive. These resorts still offer many of the Disney perks, like transportation to parks and extra magic hours. They are themed well and fun for the kids. Many of these resorts offer larger rooms for families that sleep up to 6 guests.

Another great way to stay is camping! Spend a night in a tent or RV at Disney’s Fort Wilderness and enjoy all the amenities. They have horseback riding, a great pool with slide, and even boat transportation to Magic Kingdom. Fort Wilderness Camping is also considered a value resort and staying in the fall or spring can be perfect weather. Also, planning your vacation in the off season or throughout the week can be a big savings. Staying at a value Disney resort vs. a deluxe Disney resort can save you hundreds of dollars a night!

Disney Premier Credit Card

Opening a Disney Premier Credit Card can save you a massive amount especially when using it towards your Disney vacation. This Disney credit card comes with many perks for cardmembers including 0% APR for 6 months on Disney vacation packages and 2% in Disney Rewards Dollars on card purchases at most Disney locations. With this credit card there are many Disney Vacation perks including:

  ● Save 10% on merchandise purchases over $50 at select Disney Parks

  ● Save 10% at select Disney dining locations

  ● Pose for a picture at private cardmember locations through Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

  ● Save 10% on select merchandise at shopdisney.com

  ● Cardmembers have exclusive events at Disney stores

These great saving can lead to a huge amount saved on your Disney trip!

A few extra money saving tips:

1. Get a popcorn bucket! A bucket is $12 to buy and only $2 to refill! You can bring back your buckets when you come back. I asked the cast member who sold us our bucket if we can bring them back and she said people do all the time. She also said she has seen buckets as old as 1991!

2. Book a family suite with a kitchenette at a value resort and cook in. There are many grocery delivery services that you can order ahead such as Amazon or Instacart and have your groceries in your room.

3. Pack your lunch and bring snacks to the park. Again, ordering ahead with grocery delivery and bringing breakfast and lunch to the park can save quite a bit!

4. Go for quick service meals. Throughout Disney are many different quick service restaurants with different styles. Pecos Bill is great for tocos and nachos, and Seasons at EPCOT has great BBQ!

5. Bring your own Souvenirs! Buying souvenirs at Disney can add up quickly and kids walking by all the fun toys can wear down a parent quickly into buying toys. Instead of buying toys in the park, plan and bring them. A fun way we like to do it is to bring a small toy for each kid themed around a park we are going to and give it to them on the way to the park. So, when we went to Hollywood Studios, I gave my daughter a Jessy doll from Toy Story to hang onto for the day. It gave her something to play with in line and kept her from asking for all the toys we walked by.

6. Choose the day tickets vs the park hopper. Spend the day at one park and optout of the parker hopper option on you Disney ticket.

Your next Walt Disney Vacation can still be magical even while saving money and budgeting. Planning ahead and setting a budget can help make your trip affordable and help you to get back to Disney sooner!
